Tryline Watchalong 6

As we are doing every Saturday night through the season suspension, last night, we watched back a classic match with our Twitter followers.

Last week, it was a Challenge Cup Semi Final. This week, we watched one of the greatest shocks in cup history as Sheffield defeated Wigan in 1998. If you missed it, you certainly didn't miss out! This blog is here to capture the best bits.

Sheffield's Blistering Start!
This wasn't how it was supposed to be! Sheffield took a lead within five minutes!
This brought back some great memories for the tryscorer!
Shaken, Wigan were making some uncharacteristic errors and by the half-hour mark, Sheffield had pounced again.

Half Time
Wigan did reduce the gap by two as half time approached...
But with just seconds to go before half time, Sheffield took the opportunity to increase the gap again.

An Unassailable Lead?
By the 50 minute mark, Sheffield had scored another! The lead now stood at 15 points. No side had ever overturned such a lead in Challenge Cup Final history.

The Wigan Resurgence
Inevitably, Wigan came back. A Mark Bell try gave them a lifeline!

This seemed to give Wigan belief and they had three big chances to score. Andy Farrell came the closest, but crucially, Sheffield held on.
The Glory
As the seconds ticked by, it became clear that Sheffield were on course for their first ever major trophy, and as the final hooter sounded, the celebrations begun! It's fair to day that Mark Aston was ecstatic!
A moment that requires few words now - the trophy lift! You may spot a very young Cory Aston at the end of this clip!
If you watched the game live with us, followed our text commentary or watched the 'in-play' clips last night, we hope you enjoyed it! If not, we hope this blog gave you a flavour!

As we said earlier, we will be back next week on Saturday at 7:45PM for another watchalong. Next week's game will be a relegation decider!
